RingCube Enhances its vDesk Solution and Offers Hardware-Assisted Workspace Virtualization
RingCube (News - Alert) Technologies, a provider of managed virtual workspaces announced a new desktop virtualization innovation in the RingCube vDesk solution, including the availability of the hardware-assisted workspace virtualization for enhanced performance, security and cost savings for enterprises.
The announcement was made at the Intel (News - Alert) Developer Forum or IDF 2010. RingCube officials also introduced a hardware-assisted workspace virtualization solution on Windows 7 x64. RingCube’s vDesk solution will run initially on Intel Core vPro family of processors. Broader support is planned in future releases, added company sources.
RingCube vDesk is an enterprise desktop virtualization solution that simplifies the creation, access and management of Windows desktops through Workspace Virtualization. Hardware-based virtualization capabilities delivered by RingCube on Intel Core vPro processors will help deliver distinct advantages for enterprises, including security isolation of business-critical applications and enterprise information.
Also PCs that are powered with RingCube vDesk on Windows 7 x64 and Intel Core vPro processors will offer greater security control for customers, besides delivering uncompromised desktop performance that is accessible online or offline thereby improving productivity for end users.
In a release Doug Dooley, vice president of Product Management and Marketing, RingCube said, “Intel Core vPro processors are the premier hardware platforms we have chosen to first deliver vDesk support on Windows 7 x64.”
“The Intel Developer Forum is a perfect venue to allow RingCube to showcase what we have developed and are now delivering. It also shows where RingCube is headed when it comes to hardware-assisted workspace virtualization for superior security, performance, mobility and cost savings using vDesk on Intel Core vPro processors,” Dooley added.
Charlton Barreto, Intel technology strategist and platform architect explained that the “The RingCube vDesk release for Windows 7 x64 is an important achievement for RingCube.
“RingCube vDesk, together with Intel Core vPro processors, deliver an innovative, high-performance virtual desktop experience, while meeting the security, manageability and mobility requirements of workers,” Barreto added.
The advantages offered by vDesk include eliminating need for second operating system to license or manage; high-performance virtualization technology; running at 99 percent of the native host PC performance; Four flexible deployment options: PC, Drive, Network, VDI; MobileSync with offline synchronization and no need for data center build out.
