Planview's Go-to-Market Strategy Improved with Datalink's Help
Planview selected Datalink to redesign its data storage and protection environments. An announcement in this regard has been made by the top provider of data center infrastructure and services, Datalink. The key facet of Planview’s go-to-market strategy is information technology. The company’s strategy has now evolved to a software-as-a-service (SaaS (News - Alert)) model. The data center, therefore, needs to support the requirements of an on-demand, hosted computing environment.
Datalink first assessed the business requirements of Planview. As per Planview’s go-to-market strategy, Datalink worked with Planview to align the infrastructure. Both the storage and data protection infrastructures need to be redesigned as per the recommendations from Datalink. Deployment of a NetApp-based, virtual storage solution was recommended by Datalink to Planview using the network file system or NFS-based protocol. Planview will be able to cut costs without sacrificing performance with this Ethernet-based infrastructure. Planview’s storage capacity has therefore reduced by 63 percent. Data deduplication and thin provisioning capabilities have also played a part in the reduction of storage capacity. Apart from faster provisioning, the data center solutions deliver an uptime of 99.8 percent.
In a press release, Jerry Sanchez, director of Information Technology at Planview, said, "We are seeing high customer satisfaction rates from faster provisioning of environments and more stable and rapid deployment of internal services. In addition, our new delivery model allows us to exceed our SLAs, so that our customers can confidently pursue their goals as Planview accelerates its growth."
Disk-based backup and recovery infrastructures were deployed by Datalink to enhance Planview’s data protection capabilities. Planview is able to recover file systems or entire databases in seconds by leveraging disk-based versus tape-based technologies. Sanchez added this was not possible without Datalink.
In a statement, Shawn O'Grady, executive VP of Strategy and Field Operations for Datalink, said, "We are pleased to be selected by Planview to help them derive increased tangible business value from IT. Datalink's consultative approach and data protection and storage expertise resulted in an outstanding return on investment and impact to the bottom line for Planview."
Fortune 500 and mid-tier enterprises are offered a complete data center solution by Datalink. Data centers are transformed to be more efficient, manageable and responsive to changing business needs by Datalink.
