European Provider Chooses ECT for Cloud-Based Service Offerings

March 24, 2011

European Computer Telecoms (ECT), a vendor of complete solutions for value-added services in the voice and multimedia domain, was the top pick for a major European network provider looking for new cloud-based contact center products.

The European vendor, which services organizations, midsize businesses and wholesale customers in numerous countries and major metropolitan areas worldwide since 1998, has chosen ECT’s effective Network-Based Contact Center. The solution will enable new B2B products with state-of-the-art features including automatic call distribution, skill-based routing, network-based interactive voice response with text-to-speech, speech recognition, call recording and intelligent queuing, outbound services, comprehensive Web-based service creation and integration with any database in the IP cloud.

“We are very proud that this important provider of telecommunications and IT services has chosen our solution,” Reinier Meuwissen, vice president NTS (News - Alert), Inbound and Contact Center Solutions, at ECT, said in a statement. “Their business customers will soon be able to implement sophisticated contact centers on demand with Web-based agent and manager workplaces. More importantly, as the underlying technology is located in the network, this is a truly cloud-based solution allowing businesses to avoid costly enterprise call center equipment.”

The Munich-based vendor is providing the complete turnkey solution with all platform components, network integration, customization, training, migration of existing services from legacy platforms as well as marketing support. ECT is implementing the solution on a geographically redundant INtellECT Next-Generation Intelligent Network in the carrier’s network which is primarily based on Sonus equipment.

Major global carriers and providers have relied on ECT technology to deliver profitable telecoms products. Those clients include AT&T, BT (News - Alert), Belgacom, Deutsche Telekom, DTMS, Etisalat, IN-telegence, mcel, MTN, Muzicall, OnePhone, Orange, Rogers, Saudi Telecom Company, Swisscom, TDC, Teliasonera, Telenor (News - Alert), Tele2, Versatel, Virgin Media, Vodafone and Zain.

Recently, ECT’sINtellECT platform received certification for interconnection with the German PST after the interconnection testing was performed by Deutsche Telekom using the IBM (News - Alert) Softswitch Version 3.5 and SIP."This is a major step for ECT which gives us a distinct advantage over many of our competitors,” said Walter Rott, CTO for platform-related development at ECT, in a statement.

Rott added that this certification means that the company’s INtellECT media server (MFR) can be connected directly to the PSTN without utilizing a Softswitch.

“This saves our customers money and also gives them a competitive advantage," he said.
