Vyatta Intros Vyatta Network OS 6.3 On-Demand Software for the Cloud
Vyatta (News - Alert), a company that specializes in software-based networking for physical, virtual and cloud infrastructures, announced the availability of Vyatta Network OS 6.3.
Vyatta offers a software-based network operating system that is portable to standard x86 hardware as well as common virtualization and cloud computing platforms. Vyatta software provides a complete enterprise-class routing and security suite that ensures flexibility, on-demand delivery and platform independence.
In a release Tom McCafferty, vice president of marketing at Vyatta, stated, “The complete, enterprise-class feature set of Vyatta Network OS, combined with the expanding platform and driver support, reinforces Vyatta’s position as the industry leader of on-demand networking software for virtual networks.”
“With almost 1 million downloads of Vyatta's Network OS, the latest 6.3 release showcases the power of on-demand software for the cloud and provides a glimpse of the future of next-gen networking architectures for enterprises,” McCafferty.
According to company sources, this new release enhances Vyatta’s routing, network security and content inspection besides offering more applications for custom packages for Amazon Web Services (News
- Alert) (AWS) cloud and Red Hat Kernel-Based Virtual Machine (KVM) hypervisors.
Moreover, Vyatta Network OS 6.3 helps enterprises, federal organizations and cloud providers to build and secure complex virtual and physical networks besides eliminating need for buying proprietary hardware.
Vyatta Network OS 6.3 on-demand networking software enables IaaS, PaaS and SaaS (News
- Alert) networks to ensure compliance within KVM-based environments and the Amazon public cloud. It can also offer a fully optimized enterprise-class networking solution on all of the leading hypervisor offerings along with VMWare ESX and Citrix XenServer support.
The new security features and usability improvements included in Vyatta Network OS 6.3 are IPSec VPN and OpenVPN enhancements; upgraded Snort intrusion prevention system (IPS) from SourceFire; image upgrade improvements; new CLI commands to simplify file management and a new Web-based management interface, said officials.
Officials also added that the general availability of the Red Hat (News
- Alert) KVM and Amazon AWS support will start on September 15.
