Outsourcing Website Freelancer.Com Reports $100M in Freelancer Earnings

The world’s largest outsourcing marketplace, Freelancer.com recently announced that the site has helped generate an income as big as $100 million for its users across the globe.

The Webby award-winning site helps businesses connect with approximately over 2.7 million independent service providers and freelancers from all over the world. The employers use the freelancers.com website to hire freelancers to do work in areas such as software, writing, data entry and design. Professionals in the fields of engineering and the sciences, sales and marketing and accounting and legal services, can also be hired from this site.

The small businesses, who often fail to hire full time for the high expense, find Freelancers.com particularly suitable, as the site offers Jobs starting at $30.

The site allows the businesses to post projects on Freelancer.com, where millions of professional freelancers globally can bid to complete the work, starting from $30, with the average job accomplished for under $200.

The site follows Milestone Payment system---- a system that withholds payment until the employer is fully satisfied with the delivered work. This ensures that the employers receive only high-quality, timely work.

“Employers want to know they’re hiring reliable and capable freelancers, so these decisions are not determined by price alone, but a combination of a freelancer’s bid, their reputation, and suitability to the task -- determined by factors such as adherence to submission dates, quality of work and past employer feedback,” Freelancer.com CEO Matt Barrie explained in statement.

According to Barrie, the figure proves that building a global team on a shoestring budget for any entrepreneur or small business is now a realistic, mainstream concept. The site is helping the entrepreneurs in a big way to extend their competitive advantage by outsourcing their work loads through the site, Barrie maintained.

“Through an established platform like ours, outsourcing results in quality output while simultaneously reducing costs. We estimate that the $100 million in projects paid out through the site has saved businesses around $1 billion in equivalent skilled labor costs in industrialized economies,” Barrie noted in a statement.

There are over 400 categories of work that can be outsourced or crowdsourced through Freelancer.com, with IT being one of the most popular.

According to Freelancer.com, the United States and UK are the biggest outsourcing nations, followed by India, Canada, and Australia.

Freelancer.com has also recently launched a design contest site -- the world’s largest -- where users can get 18 different types of design, including logos, business cards, t-shirts, and more.

“You can get virtually anything done, whether it’s designing a website, data entry, or something as esoteric as designing an iPhone (News - Alert) app so you can propose to your girlfriend! With Freelancer.com, 2.7 million professionals are readily available to deliver high-quality work at a fraction of the cost,” Barrie concluded.

Earlier this month, Freelancer.com, announced the expansion of its crowdsourcing feature to accommodate for all design categories. “The categories on offer are everything you would expect to find including logos, websites, brochures and smartphone app mockups to the more niche such as personalized Twitter (News - Alert) backgrounds and Photoshop editing. In total we now have 18 design categories including of course the option to post a generic design contest if you are not quite sure where your requirements fit. The generic contests start at just $100,” VP of Product Strategy Greta Stojanovic explained in an earlier press release.
