SaaS Advertising Firm Marin Software Brings in an Additional $30 Million in Capital
One of the top advertising SaaS (News
- Alert) providers in the world has just closed a round of funding that saw it raise a little more than $30 million. Marin Software is known as one of the most trusted ad management and optimization platform providers. Some of the biggest Internet and technology companies in the world lean on Marin in order to help them monetize their content and tech. When Google (News
- Alert) Instant changed the way it searched pages, it was Marin that first noticed it.
It is because of the trust that Marin has built up among the financial bigwigs that, when it needed capital investment, firms like Temasek and SAP (News
- Alert) Ventures were willing to step up to the plate. While those companies were weighing in as new investors, Marin also received sizable investments from companies that it has done business with before. Benchmark Capital, Crosslink Capital and Triangle Peak Partners all ponied up cash as well.
A spokesperson said that this round of capital will go towards product development, customer support and service delivery on a global scale. Combined with previous funding rounds, Marin has now managed to gather up an estimated $80 million. While the company was rounding up more cash, they were apparently also adding some much needed heft to their board of directors. Frank van Veenendaal, who is currently the president of Worldwide Sales and Services at salesforce.com, was announced as the newest member of the board.
Marin is still relatively young, having been founded in 2006, but the company currently boasts a client roll of more than 1,500 customers that are spread out over 160 different countries. While the company is based out of San Francisco, Marin has been successful enough to start up branch offices in Singapore, Germany, France and Australia. Marin manages ad spending for its clients to the tune of $3.5 billion per year. Van Veenendaal explained what he saw in Marin that made him want to join its board.
“The traction Marin has gained in the global marketplace reminds me of the early days of salesforce.com, and I look forward to working hand-in-hand with the executive team as the company cements its leadership worldwide.”
