South-East European Research Centre Utilizes WSO2 Governance Registry to Enhance Its SaaS Platform

WSO2 recently announced that their open source WSO2 Governance Registry will be leveraged by the South-East European Research Centre (SEERC) as the foundation for its CAST Registry & Repository. Centrally based in the CAST cloud application platform, the CAST Registry & Repository helps sustain integrity and reliability while the platform works constantly on expanding with the addition of cutting edge components and complete software-as-a-service (SaaS (News - Alert)) offerings by third-party developers.

A structured registry, The WSO2 Governance Registry is also a repository that is similar to holistic SOA lifecycle management support and is created to handle requirements of massive SOA implementations.

In a release, Mr. Dimitrios Kourtesis, a researcher in the Information & Knowledge Management research group of SEERC said, "The component-based OSGi design of the WSO2 Governance Registry has made development easier, and the components are versatile enough for us to reuse. The same OSGI container for the WSO2 Governance Registry also runs our SLA monitoring engine. We've also used OSGi components to create a custom notification mechanism and logic for role-based access management."

In a SEERC study from WSO2, is a description of the organization’s use of the WSO2 Governance Registry and its focus on the creation of cloud platform providing support to the creation and unique customization of SaaS applications by third parties. All of this has been done as part of its CAST research project. Besides giving score governance capabilities inside the cloud application platform created by the CAST project, the WSO2 Governance Registry has worked on the making of numerous customizations and extensions via its componentized, OSGi-compliant architecture.
