AdvancedMD Enhances Medical Practice Optimization Software Platform
AdvancedMD Software, a provider of Software-as-a-Service, or "SaaS (News - Alert)," electronic health record, or "HER," and practice management, or "PM," software platform, has enhanced their medical practice optimization software platform.
The company has stated that their platform has now been integrated with Akamai (News - Alert)'s Web Application Accelerator service which will quicken the access to its solution across the public internet. They have performance optimized their site so that customers receive enhanced medical practice productivity and a superior practice optimization solution.
Akamai has stated that their fully-managed Web Application Accelerator is a service that enables enterprises to accelerate dynamic, highly-interactive Web applications securely, resulting in greater adoption through improved performance, higher availability, and an enhanced worldwide user experience. It ensures consistent application performance, regardless of where users are located, and delivers capacity on demand, where and when it's needed-without significant investments in additional infrastructure.
AdvancedMD has acknowledged that they were able to bring down bandwidth utilization out of its SaaS platform by 73 percent and achieve 30 percent improvement in average transaction round-trip time after the Akamai upgrade.
Willie Tejada, Vice President of Application and Site Acceleration at Akamai Technologies has commented that one of the most critical transformations sweeping healthcare is the move to more efficient management of processes and data. Enabling physicians to access Internet-based systems that are more powerful, more frequently updated, and more easily secured is critical to cutting the cost of healthcare. By investing in Akamai's Web Application Accelerator, AdvancedMD is able to provide a consistent, high performance user experience to clinicians and billing service companies across the country and around the globe more cost-effectively, without investing in thousands of servers of their own.
Sheridan Richey, Vice President of Engineering at AdvancedMD added that they are pleased with the results their customers are experiencing with this upgrade. They continue to make significant financial investments to upgrade their architecture and infrastructure to improve the responsiveness and scalability of their application. It's a three-point effort, including the browser, transmission over the Internet and within the data center. Traditionally, software companies thought little could be done to improve transmission speed over the Internet. They now know that is not true. While actual results are dependent on the individual network, they are seeing dramatic and consistent improvements in lower bandwidth utilization and overall round-trip response times between the customer's computer and their data center.
