iReminder Launches Reverse Texting for Medication Adherence
iReminder, a healthcare technology company focusing on increasing medication compliance, has announced the development of reverse texting, a new and innovative approach aimed at enhancing persistency and medication adherence among teens and young adults. Therefore, this will help them in better handling asthma, controlling diabetes and adhering to their vaccinations schedules.
In a release, Amy J. Yoffie, CEO of iReminder, said, “This innovative use of texting empowers teens and young adults to take ownership of their disease. When they do so, they are more likely to stick to their regimen. And they know that Compliance for Life automatically alerts their medical provider, if they are not texting and might be at risk. Fitting medication adherence into patients' lives is a key feature of our technology.”
Upon enrolling with Compliance For Life (CFL), patients who desire to be SMS alerted with vaccination reminders would start receiving the automatically scheduled reminders at the appropriate times according to the vaccination schedules. This is most suitable for 11-12 year olds who need Human Papillomavirus, tetanus, diphtheria, Meningococcal and acellular pertussis vaccines. Reverse texting works well for older teens also requiring Hepatitis aB, Polio, Measles, mumps and rubella (MMR), and Varicella (chickenpox) vaccines. It is also useful for those who need to be reminded of Pneumococcal polysaccharide (PPV) and Hepatitis A vaccination schedules.
iReminder’s newly re-launched site provides sufficient information on how the obstacles to adherence would be reduced by its scalable technology. All healthcare industry stakeholders such as pharmacies, pharmaceutical manufacturers, medical providers and payers would benefit immensely from this new website in augmenting patient outcomes and diminishing chronic disease management costs.
Texting, being the primary method of communication among teens and young adults, acts as the best means for spreading medication adherence amongst them. Physicians have also started recommending to the youth to participate in sponsored reverse texting programs most suited for their lifestyles.
iReminder is a healthcare company striving to enhance medication compliance, by frequently conducting online focus groups to reveal the obstacles in creating medication awareness, brand perceptions, adherence and understanding of disease states. Its products include Global e-Trials for communications with patients under clinical trials globally, Compliance For Life and MedTrigger.
