Singlewire Software Upgrades its InformaCast Notification Platform

Singlewire Software specializing in the development of voice applications for providing secure, fast and reliable mass notifications announced the release of InformaCast 8.0, which is an upgrade to the popular InformaCast notification platform.

According to company sources, Singlewire InformaCast is a full-featured, network-based mass notification, emergency communication and overhead paging system. This system can send users an audio and/or text message to a different endpoints comprising of IP speakers, Cisco (News - Alert) IP phones, overhead paging systems, computer desktops, digital signage, SMS text, social media sites and others.

It was revealed in a company press release that InformaCast can be used to send bell tones for passing bells in K-12 schools and also to mark shift changes in manufacturing environments.

In the release, Ken Bywaters, executive vice-president of product development at Singlewire Software said, “InformaCast users will immediately notice the changes the first time they open the application. The new plugin architecture makes it easy for organizations to quickly connect to a growing universe of systems and endpoint devices. It’s just like installing an app on your mobile phone.”

Company officials also announced the availability of more no-cost plugins alongwith the release of InformaCast 8.0. These offer users the ability to send broadcasts to e-mail accounts, Twitter, and Facebook (News - Alert) as well as initiating broadcasts when an e-mail containing certain text is received.

Also available is a plugin for sending broadcast jobs to the SchoolMessenger notification service for a small fee. New plugins will be released on an ongoing basis, confirmed company sources.

The InformaCast platform for mass notification and emergency communication was developed to evacuate federal buildings within 15 minutes. This was done following the 9/11 attacks. More than 3,000 organizations in 45 countries have implemented InformaCast as their notification and overhead paging system.

Singlewire has developed innovative voice applications like InformaCast, InformaCast SE, PushToTalk, and RemotePhoneControl.

In October 2010, Singlewire deployed InformaCast at Christopher Columbus High School in Miami. The school is using the solution to manage bells, clocks, overhead paging and a classroom emergency call button.
