MGF Supports Japan Through Text-To-Give Campaigns
Mobile Giving Foundation (MGF) is continuing its Japan Relief Efforts initiatives through Text-To-Give Campaigns.
It has been a month after the disastrous earthquake and tsunami struck Japan and the Mobile Giving Foundation (MGF) is still encouraging people to continue supporting relief efforts in Japan through text-to-give donations.
There are various ways to donate for causes, and texting is among the easiest. Those interested in participating in this cause can do so by texting a keyword to a designated short code via a mobile phone in response to a "call to action."
Once the text is received a small $5 or $10 donation is made to help those affected by the tragedies in Japan.
Charity works well in collaboration, and the MGF is working with North American operators to enable a 100-percent pass-through of funds raised by all the mobile campaigns listed in this alert.
This collaboration ensures that donations go to a recipient charity.
MGF notes that mobile carriers are providing strong support to disaster affected people in Japan. It cites a recent Verizon (News
- Alert) announcement stating that Japan-relief donations from Verizon and its employees have totaled over $800,000.
"The destruction caused by the earthquake, tsunami and ensuing nuclear disaster in Japan will require a massive reconstruction effort," said Jim Manis, CEO of the Mobile Giving Foundation. "As a pioneer of mobile giving as a way of helping disaster victims, the MGF wants to remind everyone that wireless technology has proven to be a powerful force for social change and consumer empowerment, and we encourage mobile users to take advantage of this technology to give in any way they can."
