Expedia Hotels App Helps to Expedite Bookings at Hotels

Expedia (News - Alert).com is the world's leading online travel site, helping millions of travelers easily plan and book travel. In keeping with its commitment to provide the latest technology, Expedia launched a hotel booking app and also released a set of upgrades for its mobile Web customers.


The hotel booking app for Android (News - Alert) devices -Expedia Hotels- when combined with major upgrades are expected to to help travelers find and book the perfect trip, regardless of where they are and also enhance the mobile shopping travel experience for them.

“Nothing is more intrinsically mobile than travel, which is why investing in mobile is a key part of our Expedia Everywhere business strategy,” said Scott Durchslag, president of Expedia Worldwide, in a press release.”Whether it be from their mobile phone, their tablet, or their PC, Expedia customers can book the perfect trip from nearly anywhere, at any time.”

Using the hotel booking app, travelers can easily research, filter and book hotel rooms from their Android mobile devices. The app uses the GPS to find all available hotels in the vicinity of the travelers and displays an interactive map view with many sorting options.

The TripAdvisor provides hotel ratings and also displays hotels along with amenities they provide, the price and all other information that a traveler requires to arrive at a decision. Once the research is done, the traveler can book a room and then look for directions to the hotel. Bookings are confirmed via e-mail.

This is the first Android app introduced by Expedia since the company acquired Mobiata the mobile app powerhouse. Mobiata will debut the app in the Developer Sandbox at Google (News - Alert) I/O from May 10-11 in San Francisco. Expedia Hotels is available for free from the Android Market. The app is being released worldwide, with 20 local currencies supported.

In other news, Expedia has named the 246-suite, Embassy Suites Hot Springs Hotel & Spa in Arkansas among the top-ranked hotels on this year's Expedia Insiders' Select list, according to a release.The Insiders' Select list formally recognizes individual hotels worldwide that consistently deliver “excellent service, a great overall experience and a notable value.” The full list represents only 500 of Expedia's top-ranked hotels selected from the more than 130,000 properties offered by Expedia, the world's largest online travel company.
