Keynote Systems Integrates PagerDuty's Phone Alert Tools in MyKeynote Portal

June 15, 2011

Keynote Systems (News - Alert), a provider of Internet and mobile cloud monitoring solutions, has formed a partnership with PagerDuty to take advantage of PagerDuty’s advanced phone alerting tools for users of the MyKeynote portal.

Building on the power and flexibility of Keynote’s Smart Alerts, the Keynote-PagerDuty integration allows Keynote e-mail alerts to be sent via phone or SMS directly to operations team members and support staff wherever they may be, company officials said.

PagerDuty  is an alarm aggregation and dispatching service for system administrators and support teams. It collects alerts from existing monitoring tools, provides an integrated view of all existing alarms and alerts the designated responder if there's a problem, the company said.

With PagerDuty, users can build sophisticated alerting rules to determine who to contact when problems occur. They can assign multiple levels of coverage to ensure that if the "primary" on-call person doesn't respond to an alert on time, it will automatically be escalated to a "secondary" person, and so on until the issue is addressed.

Users can configure PagerDuty to any notification chain, sending e-mails and texts to all the right people. In case they don't respond, the issue can be auto-escalated to a team member so incident alerts never go unseen or heard.

MyKeynote allows Keynote customers to manage all their mobile and Web site monitoring and testing data within a single user interface and across the full spectrum of Keynote products from Web and mobile monitoring to alerts, VoIP monitoring and load testing, the company said.

“We are delighted to offer PagerDuty’s sophisticated phone alerting tools to Keynote customers, allowing them to receive their Keynote alerts via a phone call, an SMS or to enhance the e-mail alerts they already receive,” said Alex Solomon, founder and CEO at PagerDuty, in a statement.

“Keynote provides unparalleled e-mail alerting capabilities through Keynote Smart Alerts and now that we are able to offer phone-based alerting from PagerDuty we have provided Keynote customers with one more way to stay ahead of the curve and respond to incidents at the speed of the Web,” said Vik Chaudhary, vice president of product management and corporate development at Keynote, in a statement.

Keynote’s existing alerting capabilities, combined with PagerDuty’s sophisticated alert management capabilities, provide enterprises with a failsafe alerting solution, Chaudhary added.

Recently Keynote Systems announced BJ’s Wholesale Club, an operator of membership warehouse clubs in the Eastern United States, is using Keynote solutions for optimizing the performance of its website.
