ACS Expands and Adds Hundreds of Jobs

September 09, 2011

Call center service provider Affiliated Computer Services (ACS (News - Alert)) is gearing up to hire 200 employees in Lewiston to carry out the jobs related to its new contracts.

According to Sun Journal, the new recruitment will take the total number of employees to 600 at ACS’ facility on East Avenue.

Any hiring is great news in the United States as its economy is struggling to recover from 2008 recession.

The company will be hiring supervisors and call-center agents to provide technical support and customer service for those industries, reported the paper quoting Alex Charles, a spokesman for Xerox, the parent company of ACS.

The call center at Lewiston hands calls of some retail and healthcare companies.

ACS has 150 call centers internationally and handles more than 1 million customers each year.

The 650 jobs in Lexington will be at its Yorkshire Boulevard and West New Circle Road locations.

The entry-level jobs pay about $10 an hour with opportunities for bonuses based on performance, according to Kentucky.com

The hirings will add to ACS's stature as a large local employer. Before this announcement, it employed nearly 3,000 people in Lexington and nearly 5,000 in Kentucky.Other reports say Lewiston expansion is part of a nationwide plan to add 3,000 jobs in the next few months. Dallas-based ACS is hiring 1,500 in Raleigh, N.C.; 400 in Salt Lake City; 160 in San Antonio, Texas; and 200 in Lewiston, Maine.Employees are easily available in many cities across America because of economic downturn.
