New Call Center Brings 300 Jobs to Arizona
Recently, Peggy Carlaw touted the corporate benefits of call centers in tough economic times, citing such benefits as customer loyalty, referrals, improved sales and improved shareholder value. The benefits for businesses are clear; however, it is not just businesses that grow as a result of call centers: during tough economic times, they also provide much-needed jobs to help communities grow. Today, Direct Energy Marketing revealed that it will be opening a new call center in Tempe, with plans to hire as many as 300 employees in the first quarter of the New Year alone.
According to Senior Reporter for the Phoenix Business Journal, Mike Sunnucks, this new center—the company’s second in Tempe—will be part of the expansion of their national residential energy service and repair division. The potential for the Tempe community is notable; the company will be hiring at all levels from agents to high-level managers, offering competitive pay at every level. Agents will be given a starting wage of $12 to $14 per hour, while mangers will be given a starting salary of $40,000 to $90,000. The company has already established a base in the Tempe community with a 150-employee center; this new center will be twice the size of the first center.
With the opening slated for February, it will be one of the first call centers to provide an economic boost in 2013. Interested applicants can apply at the job fair that the company will be hosting on January 21st at the Phoenix Airport Marriott Hotel.
