It seems like most business insiders these days will agree that you can tell how successful a company is based on whether or not its call center is thriving or on the verge of shutting down. While not every successful company is going to be sporting a separate contact center to call its own, there is a definite pattern emerging among companies that deal with customers of any size and color. These companies are opening up call centers at a much faster rate than what we saw even a few decades ago. United Health’s OptumRx is the latest firm to join the parade with the announcement of a 50,000 square foot call center being opened in Jacksonville’s Flagler Center.
The good news about companies like United Health opening these call centers is that the centers provide quite a few jobs to the surrounding communities. OptumRx’s call center is expected to put as many as 300 people to work at the business center. It appears that there will be quite an extensive amount of construction with the final bill somewhere in the neighborhood of $1.5 million. There is a separate permit application on the books for the company to start a training center for OptumRx alongside the call center.
"This is a wonderful company and a great 'get' for Jacksonville," said University of North Florida president John Delaney, chair of the JAXUSA Partnership economic development division of the JAX Chamber. "It is not just the direct jobs that United Health will employ, but also the construction and engineering workers who will build out the space," Delaney added in a recent statement.
In order for United Health to choose the very best employees for its OptumRX staffing needs, the company will be holding a job fair. The call center is expected to have round the clock support staff and will be looking to hire customer service representatives as well as management positions during the fair.
