America’s largest wireless service provider, Verizon (News - Alert) Wireless, has announced this Wednesday that it will be opening 250 new positions in the metropolitan New York area. The additions will include 150 full and part-time positions throughout the area, and 100 inside sales positions at their call center in Orangeburg, New York.
Verizon is looking to fill their 100 call center openings by the end of May, 2014, while the other 150 jobs are expected to be filled by the end of July.
The new hires, according to Pat Devlin, President of Verizon Wireless (News - Alert), New York Metro Region, are in response to Verizon’s growth and a part of the company’s plans to expand within the New York and New Jersey areas. According to the company’s website, their 2013 revenue was $81 billion. Verizon is considered America’s largest wireless provider, with 102.8 million retail connections and more than 17,000 retail stores spread across the country.
The company actively recruits military veterans, while offering competitive salaries and benefits to its over 3,000 employees spread throughout the New York Metro Region. Benefits include health care coverage that begins on the first day of work, and participation in the company’s 401(k) program. Other bonuses include tuition reimbursement, for both full and part-time employees, and adoption assistance. On top of this, employees at the Orangeburg call center will be given flexible schedules, and offered on-site child care services.
