BP Logix, Inc. announced this week that it has been awarded a project by the County of Fresno, CA (News - Alert) following a lengthy and extensive RFP process to revamp the County’s automated work flow and business process management (BPM.) The County’s legacy systems for processing requests had become burdensome and inefficient.
The IT Department of Fresno County selected Process Director because of its ease of use and the familiarity of a .net platform and also because of the functionality of the workflow management aspect. Rick Colen, the Deputy Director of Information Technology for Fresno County, said, “The ability to see outstanding requests and projected timelines is very important. The staff sees a light at the end of the tunnel – and that's a good thing." (Broadwayworld.com)
Understanding Why You Need BPM
A good way to understand the need for BPM systems is to “Think of BPM suites as … a kind of next-generation workflow.” (Informationweek.com ) As technologies change and organizations expand, old processes that used to work are no longer the most efficient way of conducting business. For example, routing things for approval manually doesn’t make sense.
Automated approvals and workflow management are only some ways that BPM systems can help. BPM systems can be readily adaptable out-of the box, but some there are some variances by need and industry. For example, Process Director, by BP Logix, is available in a web-based or in-house platform, a Compliance version, and an Original Equipment Manufacturer version.
Some industries, by their nature, are more subject to audits and scrutiny. Financial services, grants management and other federally (or state) regulated industries need to protect themselves, and their other compliance records, regardless of the type of compliance data.
The features of Process Director’s Compliance version include Enhanced Audit Support and Enhanced Authentication. This version provides additional security and reporting features for companies and organizations that need the additional features.
Likewise, OEMs and other commercial manufacturers would find Process Director’s OEM Edition valuable. By streamlining processes, recognizing potential problems, and allowing management to evaluate “what if” scenarios, this product gives manufacturers an edge in getting their products to market more quickly.
