InfoCision Celebrates West Virginia Contact Center 10th Anniversary

October 16, 2009
It’s not every day in the fast-changing universe of contact centers, especially outsourced teleservices, that a specific contact center location lasts longer than three or so years. Usually, the period covered by the taxpayer-funded incentives is used by governments to lure employers. There have been too many firms and centers that have waited for the deals to run out then head to lower-cost places like India and The Philippines.

Then again, and in fairness packing one’s bags after three or five years is understandable if regrettable. Contact centers can often burn through labor forces in that period of time, less if higher-paid companies move into a community or if business and business models change, like mergers, downsizing and increased reliance on voice/web self-service and teleworking.

In contrast, InfoCision’s Clarksburg, West Virginia-area contact center has stayed in operation for 10 years. This is a laudable achievement for a firm that just celebrated its anniversary on Oct. 15 with local leaders, employees and friends from the community.

The ceremony included guest speakers and a cake-cutting to mark the occasion. Commissioners from Harrison County, which encompasses the Clarksburg vicinity, presented InfoCision with a proclamation commemorating the company’s tenure as a quality employer and partner in the community.  A U.S. Army representative spoke offering congratulations to InfoCision and thanks for being a solid corporate citizen as an employer of veterans and soldiers.   This summer, InfoCision enlisted with the Army’s Partnerships for Youth Success, or “PaYS,” program that provides priority hiring status to honorably discharged soldiers participating in the program.

InfoCision opened its first location in downtown Clarksburg in 1999, and moved its operation to a new building, its current home in nearby Mount Clare in 2003 to accommodate increased client demand.  The company currently employs more than 200 people in Harrison County and the company continues to grow. Founded in 1982, InfoCision operates 30 contact centers at 12 locations in Ohio, Pennsylvania and West Virginia.

InfoCision Senior Vice President of Corporate Affairs Steve Brubaker recognized current employees who are active or veterans of the U.S. armed forces and thanked them for their service to our country.  Brubaker also honored 11 employees who have been with the company since 1999, its first year in Clarksburg by presenting them with certificates of appreciation commemorating their years of hard work.

Then again perhaps it isn’t surprising that InfoCision’s center has achieved such longevity. The firm has a reputation for being a top shelf employer with excellent benefits. It has been named one of the top ten best employers in Ohio, where it is headquartered, by that state’s chamber of commerce.

Brubaker said that company is proud of the Clarksburg team and their success over the last 10 years.  “I really want to thank our employees, who have been the catalyst for our success here, and the community which has always been so gracious to us,” Brubaker said.  “Our Clarksburg location has always been a tremendous asset for InfoCision and we expect that to continue for years to come.”
