Convergys Extends Florida HR Management Contract Five More Years

December 09, 2009
Convergys Corporation, a provider of relationship management solutions, has announced a five-year extension of a human resources management contract known as “People First” with the state of Florida.

Convergys (News - Alert) said that this extension will allow the state to continue to benefit from millions of dollars in savings.

The renewal becomes effective immediately and extends the existing contract between Convergys and the state through August 2016. This extension has been designed to deliver significant savings to the state of Florida of $45 million over the life of the contract.

“The renewed contract meets and exceeds recommendations from the Florida Office of Program Policy Analysis and Government Accountability related to cost savings and performance,” said Florida Department of Management Services Secretary Linda H. South, in a statement. “Working with Convergys allows us to take the People First product to the next level, with terrific improvements to service for state employees and significant cost savings for Florida’s taxpayers.”

Convergys will also provide additional enhancements that are in place to improve the quality and functionality of the state’s HR management system, while also continuing to support the state’s 240,000 employees and elected officials with services such as human resources, benefits and payroll administration and recruiting.

“Working closely with the Department of Management Services (DMS), we’ve identified additional enhancements to the original contact including important system modifications and updated performance metrics, which together are yielding significant HR improvements for those who serve the people of Florida,” said John Gibson, president of HR management for Convergys, in a statement.

Gibson went on to state that the company’s open and highly-productive relationship with DMS has delivered benefits to both Florida taxpayers and Florida employees. He believes the extension of the “People First” contract is sure to continue to be an outstanding success.

In its HR solutions initiatives, Convergys partners with global HR clients to drive more value from employee relationships to foster greater organizational effectiveness and lower costs. The company relies on best business practices rooted in outsourced HR solutions to help clients automate HR process, standardize global HR technology and improve service delivery.

Keeping on task with its drive for expansion, Convergys announced last week that it has gone global with its hosted contact center solutions. Now Convergys can deliver its apps over its own dedicated network backbone as a managed service, meaning that it has full control over application performance on a global basis.

Staying with the outsourcing theme, Convergys is keeping its sights on the Philippines last month as it as it expands its call center outsourcing operations to this booming region. The company recently announced that it plans to hire approximately 4,500 more agents between now and the end of February for its 12 contact center facilities in the country.
