Interop (News - Alert) Technologies, a provider of core solutions for messaging, device management, and connectivity gateways, has achieved interoperability with Red Bend Software’s (News - Alert) Mobile Software Management, or “MSM,” solutions for firmware over-the-air, or “FOTA,” updating and standards-based mobile device management, or “MDM.”
Following the Open Mobile Alliance Device Management, or “OMA-DM,” standards, the two companies have ensured interoperability between the Interop Technologies Subscriber Capability Originated Provisioning Environment or “SCOPE” Device Management solution and Red Bend’s vRapid Mobile and vDirect Mobile client software, deployed in 680 million mobile devices worldwide.
Interop Technologies SCOPE solution is an OMA-DM solution that supports next-generation provisioning technologies. The solution easily integrates with legacy SS7-based OTA solutions, according to company officials.
According to Lori Sylvia, executive vice president of marketing at Red Bend Software, customer demand for increasingly sophisticated devices like smartphones, e-readers and netbooks, create a number of management challenge to operators from both an operational and a customer care perspective.
“Our collaboration with Interop Technologies gives mobile operators a standards-based solution that will reduce the operational expense of managing the growing number of wirelessly connected devices,” Sylvia added.
With this solution, wireless network operators benefit from lower customer care costs and simplified remote management of mobile phones and connected wireless devices, according to company officials.
“Achieving interoperability of our SCOPE DM solution with Red Bend, the industry leader in mobile software management, will help Interop Technologies meet its goal to be compatible with the broadest number of mobile devices in the market,” Steve Zitnik, executive vice president of technology and new ventures, Interop Technologies, said in a statement.
Red Bend’s software is designed to improve the mobile user experience of smartphones, wireless modems, machine-to-machine or “M2M” modules and netbooks. The software has been adopted by eight of the top 10 mobile phone manufacturers,
Interop Technologies is exhibiting SCOPE solution at the International CTIA Wireless (News - Alert) 2010 trade show, March 23-25 at the Las Vegas Convention Center.
In their latest announcement Interop Technologies also announced that it has once again broken a messaging throughput record with its innovative Short Message Service Center or “SMSC” 4 Series.
According to company officials, SMSC 4 Series now can provide a throughput level of 100,000 Message Delivery Attempts or “MDAs” per second, which surpasses the 53,000 MDAs per second that Interop achieved in April 2009.
