Alpine Access to Hire 1,000 Home-based Agents

August 31, 2011

Colorado-based call center outsourcing company Alpine Access is reportedly hiring 1,000 new call center agents. And as with all Alpine Access call center agents, the new employees will work from their homes.

Alpine Access, which calls itself a “virtual contact center solutions and services,” handles customer support for a range of vertical industries, from telecom to health care and retail. Employees handle services including customer support, order processing and technician dispatch, reported Denver news organization KMGH on Denver News Story.

Alpine Access says it expects to hire the new employees by the end of 2011. Since all Alpine Access agents are virtual and work from their homes, the company can draw from a nationwide pool of candidates. The company has said that it is hiring because of ongoing demand from new and existing clients.

“These open positions further illustrate the positive impact the virtual home-based call center model is having on the nation’s economy,” said the company in a press release.

In a speech in early August, FCC (News - Alert) Chairman Julius Genachowski touched on the importance of the call center industry to America’s economic revival. He specifically highlighted the virtual call center model and the fact that about 60,000 Americans work from their homes as contact center agents: a number that is expected to grow.

“Since pioneering the virtual @home model for call centers in 1998, Alpine Access has hired thousands of Americans,” said Christopher M. Carrington, president and CEO of Alpine Access. “We are proud that our company’s continuing growth and success enables us to hire even more Americans while also supporting the government’s economic recovery efforts.”

Alpine Access customer care workers make about $9 an hour on average. The meet the criteria of a home-based agent, candidates must have a computer, Internet service, home phone service and a corded traditional phone with a corded headset to connect to the Alpine Access system.
