Zing JMV from Azul Helps Enterprises Realize Full Potential of SaaS Applications

February 21, 2012

The Zing solution from Azul Systems, a provider of Java Virtual Machines (JVMs), is enabling companies to discover the full potential of software-as-a-service (SaaS (News - Alert)). Zing delivers solutions that address Java runtime barriers which otherwise arrest business expansion for SaaS providers who find it extremely hard to scale up to meet customer demands while using inelastic Java Virtual Machines.

The primary reason why SaaS applications are unable to deliver on both scalability and reliability lies with inelastic Java Virtual Machines. This problem can be addressed via the capabilities of the Zing JVMs which have been designed to deliver increased performance, scalability and flexibility options to SaaS providers. Leveraging Zing JVM, SaaS providers can scale up to address user and volume requirements and can easily support application instances over and beyond 512GB seamlessly.

In a release, Mark Jancola, vice president of Engineering, Apptio, said, "Our customers are leading global enterprise organizations that rely on Apptio's SaaS-based Technology Business Management services to power insights and decisions by processing large scale financial and operational data. Zing provides an important elastic runtime layer for our SaaS infrastructure, delivering high performance for data intensive analysis, ensuring consistent response times under unpredictable loads, and providing confidence that our services will scale to meet the needs of our most demanding customers."

Zing JVM for Java-based SaaS applications offers SaaS providers with benefits which include a high level of responsiveness, scalability, and performance as Zing breaks down Java scalability limitations. Zing also offers enhanced application availability and infrastructure elasticity as Zing allows multi-user systems to allocate memory and CPU resources depending on real-time demands, improving response time and compliance with SLAs. Furthermore, SaaS providers benefit from increased resource efficiency as they can easily include more users on each server instance leveraging the elastic capabilities of the Zing solution.

Zing also offers easy deployment and management via its JVMs. Customers can bring down Java instance counts by up to 90 percent without compromising on application throughput, response, and availability. Administrators can use the Zing Vision always-on, production visibility tool to address any application problems which can impact duration of development life cycles.
