Blackbaud Unveils Top Trends In Nonprofit Technology

January 21, 2011

The report on Top Technology Trends released by Blackbaud, Inc., a global provider of software and related services, exposes the growing trend of nonprofit organizations in resorting to technology for aid in the reinvention and evaluation of fundraising programs.

In a release, Bo Crader, principal consultant at Blackbaud and co-author of Top Technology Trends, said that “Determining where technology can best complement an organization’s mission, also helps to establish the best use of resources; from staff, funding, board, donor, and otherwise. With the proliferation and divergence of technology readily available in the past few years, it is even more important for organizations to be fluent with trends in the market and their potential fit within their organization and strategies.”

The report, in addition to unveiling the methods adopted by nonprofit organizations for network expansion and diversification of fund raising, also also gives an insight on the influence of technology in enriching the composition and connotation of data. Nonprofit organizations preparing to bolster their fundraising plans would significantly benefit from the white paper created by Blackbaud, which has been designed specifically for them.

In a release, Kristen Fulks, Blackbaud principal consultant and another co-author of the paper, said that “We think it is very important to share fundraising technology trends with the nonprofit community, yet the fundamentals familiar to any fundraiser still apply,” she said. “With the ever-demanding challenges of the economy and other influences, it is even more critical to get donors engaged faster, rather than just using technology for technology’s sake.”

The report urges nonprofit organizations to expect mobile-powered applications to become widely used in the forthcoming years. With the motive of assisting their efforts for diversified fundraising, the nonprofit organizations have been advocated by the report to employ methods to localize and personalize fundraising through independent fundraising events and other network-based fundraising tools.

The report also advises the use of websites and social networks for delivering updates and announcements, while leveraging a network of supporters for a tangible return on investment.
